The cream can take a few days to have it's full effect which is why it is recommended to use consistently for a few days before reducing the dose to an ad hoc basis. Apply the pain cream over the entire area of discomfort 3-4 times per day for the first 7-10 days and after that on an as-needed basis. When applying, ensure the cream is massaged into the skin until it is completely absorbed.
