Description

Gaviscon Extra Strength Chewable Tablets are used to treat the symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset or sour stomach. These may occur following meals or during pregnancy.

Gaviscon Extra Strength Chewable Tablets bring long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion.

The tablets are a combination of two antacids - Aluminum Hydroxide 160 mg and Magnesium Carbonate 105 mg, as well as an alginate to provide a protective raft or coat on the stomach.

The tablets get to work in two different ways:

• neutralizing excess stomach acid to relieve pain and discomfort
• forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents to soothe the burning pain in your chest

Dosage

For oral administration.

Read the package leaflet before use.

Important: do not use if the foil inner seal printed ''sealed for your protection'' is disturbed or missing.

• Chew thoroughly before swallowing, do not swallow whole.
• Adults and children over 12 years: when symptoms occur, chew two to four tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. Follow with a half glass of water.
• Do not take more than 16 tablets in 24 hours.
• Children under 12 years should only use this product on medical advice from a doctor.

You can take this product if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Ingredients

Active ingredients (in each tablet): Aluminum Hydroxide 160 mg and Magnesium Carbonate 105 mg. Each tablet contains Magnesium 35 mg and Sodium 20 mg.

Other ingredients: Alginic Acid; Calcium Stearate; Flavor; Sodium Bicarbonate; Sucrose. May contain Stearic Acid. Contains Sorbitol or Mannitol. May contain Starch.

Warnings and Restrictions

Read all product packaging and labels carefully prior to use.

• Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.
• Seek advice if you suffer from allergies.
• Contains sodium and calcium. If you have been advised to follow a diet restricted in either of these, consult your doctor before taking this product.
• Do not swallow whole – chew thoroughly before swallowing.
• Do not take more than 16 tablets in 24 hours.
• Do not use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks.

If symptoms persist after 14 days, consult your doctor.

Extended safety information

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if:

• You are taking a prescription drug.
• Antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs.
• If you are on a sodium-restricted diet.

In case of an overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Storage

• Store at up to 25°C (77°F) in a dry place.
• Do not store above 77°F.
• Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
• Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
