Pharmacist FAQs Answered

How does Deep Freeze Cooling Gel actually relieve pain?

Deep Freeze Cooling Gel does this by employing "cold therapy." When you apply it to the skin, it provides a cool feeling that penetrates down to the area beneath. Coolness numbs out the pain feelings that your body sends to the brain. At the same time, the cold temperature decreases the dimensions of your vessels in the affected area, hence relieving inflammation and swelling. That is why it feels comforting if your muscles, joints, or tendons are strained, bruised, or sore.

How long will the cooling effect last, and how soon will I recover?

It normally takes a couple of minutes to get cold as soon as you place the gel. The cooling feeling may last anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. Most people start to notice some pain relief not long after applying it. However, the time it takes to feel better differs for each person. If your pain continues after a few days of regular use, you must talk to your doctor or pharmacist to ensure you’re using the right treatment.

Can I combine Deep Freeze Gel with other painkillers?

Yes, but with care. Do not use it simultaneously as heat treatments, including a hot water bottle or products from the Deep Heat range, on the same part of your body. This will confuse your body's response and may harm your skin. If you have any painkillers or other lotions on, it's a good idea to talk to your pharmacist first to make sure they won't sting the skin or lower the gel's effectiveness.

Is it okay to bandage up the area after using the gel?

Leave it exposed or slightly covered only if your doctor advises otherwise. Covering it under tight clothing will keep it too cold for the skin, damaging it. After rubbing in the gel, let it dry out thoroughly, and wear loose, comfortable clothing that will not put so much pressure on the area.

Will it be okay if children or elderly people use it?

Yes, children over 5 years and adults of any age can apply this gel. But younger children should only apply it with an adult's help. Older individuals may have thinner or more sensitive skin, so it's best to test a small area first. Always begin with a small amount, and don't apply it more than 3 or 4 times a day.

What should I do if the gel touches my eyes or goes into my mouth?

If you accidentally get the gel in your eyes, mouth, or nose, it stings or irritates. Wash it out immediately with lots of clean, cool water. If the irritation doesn't go away after you have washed it out, see a doctor or pharmacist. That's why it's essential to wash your hands immediately after applying the gel, so you don't accidentally touch your face or eyes.

Can I apply this gel daily for an extended period?

Deep Freeze Cooling Gel is only for temporary use. You can use it a few times daily for some days but not for weeks and weeks continuously. If your pain doesn't get any better after you use the gel for some days, then it's a clue that you need to talk to a doctor. They will help you determine what might be hurting and give you more effective treatments if necessary.
