Product Summary

A superior sunscreen body lotion with Anti-Stain After Wash technology. Soothes and protects sensitive skin including atopic skin.

Eucerin Sun Lotion Extra Light Sensitive Protect SPF 30 is a sunscreen for the body that soothes sensitive skin and protects it from sun-induced skin damage. It is also suitable for atopic skin.

The Advanced Spectral Technology combines broadband and photostable UVA/UVB filters for very high UV protection with Licochalcone A. This powerful antioxidant works to neutralize free radicals caused by UV and HEVIS light.

The extra-light sunscreen body lotion absorbs immediately and is water-resistant.

Pharmacist FAQs Answered

Why is this sunscreen suitable for sensitive or atopic skin?

Eucerin Sun Sensitive Protect SPF 30 is designed for atopic and sensitive skin, including those with eczema-like conditions. It's gentle because it's fragrance-free and doesn't contain irritating ingredients like strong fragrances. It also includes Licochalcone A, a high-performance antioxidant that helps calm irritation and redness. This ingredient fights free radicals from sunlight, such as UVA, UVB, and HEVIS light (a blue light from the sun that can stress skin). The lotion is also lighter in texture, so it won't clog pores or feel heavy. It's also clinically proven safe and effective for sensitive skin, making it a good option for anyone who easily reacts to standard sunscreens.

What is 'Anti-Stain After Wash' technology, and how does it function?

Eucerin's Anti-Stain After Wash Technology is specifically designed to reduce yellow staining on clothing when sunscreen is applied. The stains form when UV filters mix with sweat or water and penetrate the fabric, especially on light-coloured garments. This sunblock uses an innovative formula that readily avoids such discolourations or washes them out. It's a good feature if you often wear white or light-coloured clothes and don't want them to look dirty after being protected from the sun. It doesn't impair the efficacy of the sunblock—it still gives total SPF 30 protection without becoming less clothes-friendly.

Is SPF 30 enough for sunny days, or should I use SPF 50+?

SPF 30 provides high protection against UVB rays, which cause sunburn, and also protects against UVA and HEVIS light, which cause long-term skin damage and ageing. For most people, SPF 30 is sufficient if you won't be outside in direct sunlight for long periods. However, if your skin is very sun-sensitive, pale, or phototoxic, or you spend a lot of time outdoors (e.g., at the beach, sports, or camping), SPF 50+ may provide extra protection. It's also more suitable for sunny weather or mainly sunny days. The secret is using enough and reapplying every two hours, regardless of the SPF you use.

Is this sunscreen suitable for use on the body and face?

While this sunscreen is designed for the body, you can also use it on your face, especially if your skin is sensitive enough to tolerate body sunscreens. It's light, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly, which reduces shine and discomfort on the face. That said, if you have oily, acne-prone, or extremely sensitive facial skin, it may be better to use a specifically formulated sunscreen for the face, like Eucerin's facial SPF line. These are generally better for facial skin and work well under makeup. But this SPF 30 body lotion is still a safe alternative for your face in a pinch.

Does this lotion block blue light from screens?

This sunscreen does not protect against screen blue light (e.g., smartphones or computers), but against natural blue light, or HEVIS (High-Energy Visible) light, from the sun. HEVIS light can penetrate further than UV rays and potentially cause early skin ageing or discolouration. The active ingredient Licochalcone A in this formula safeguards your skin against the damage of HEVIS light. The risk of skin damage from this type of blue light is still under investigation for indoor use of screens. This can increase risk of skin cancer. However, wearing sunscreen like this in front of windows or outside helps keep skin healthier overall.
