Pharmacist FAQs Answered
How exactly is Jungle Formula Bite and Sting Relief Spray?
This spray calms the skin, reducing itching and discomfort caused by insect bites and stings. It contains menthol and other soothing ingredients that anaesthetise the skin, while chamomile and liquorice extracts calm the irritation. They all work together to make you feel more at ease within a matter of moments. It is not an antidote for preventing allergic reactions, but if used as soon as contact is made, it will alleviate the majority of slight bite and sting symptoms.
Can this spray be used on children,n and how often can it be used?
Yes, Jungle Formula Bite and Sting Relief Spray is safe for children 3 years and older. Spray it immediately after the bite or sting, and repeat as itching or stinging returns. Just don't use too much of it—apply a handful several times a day, and avoid spraying the same area too often. Always supervise younger ones to ensure they use it only on intact skin.
What type of bites and stings is this spray for?
This spray is designed to relieve itching and irritation caused by insect bites and stings, including those from mosquitoes, midges, gnats, fleas, and wasps. It can also be used for minor plant stings, like nettles. It should not be used on bites that are bleeding, blistered, or very swollen. If you've been stung by a bee or wasp and the sting is still in your skin, remove it first before applying the spray. If you're allergic to insect stings, seek medical help urgently.
Is it safe to use this spray on my face or sensitive areas of skin?
No, you should not apply this spray near your eyes, mouth, or sensitive skin, such as your face or broken skin. The chemicals can be painful to sensitive areas, leaving redness or a burning sensation if you spray in the wrong place. Rinse with cold water and avoid rubbing your skin. For bites around the face, it's always a good idea to ask at the pharmacy for something milder, such as a cream or gel.
Can I use this spray with other bites or creams for treatment?
Generally, it’s best to use only one type of treatment at a time on the same skin area to avoid irritation. Jungle Formula Bite and Sting Relief Spray is fast-acting and typically doesn’t need to be combined with other creams. However, if you’ve already used something else (like antihistamine cream or hydrocortisone), wait a few hours before using this spray. If you're unsure, call your pharmacist to avoid mixing ingredients that could have a negative interaction.
Are there any side effects that would make me stop using the spray?
Most people have no problem with using this spray. There is some redness or stinging occasionally after application, especially if the skin is sensitive. If you experience burning, rash, swelling, or the skin becomes more irritated after application, stop using it immediately. Wash the affected area gently with soap and water and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Avoid application to broken, sunburned, or infected skin.
