Xailin Night is an eye ointment for treating dry eye conditions, corneal erosion, and lubricating the eyes before or after eye surgery. It contains paraffin and wool alcohols (lanolin) which all serve to lubricate and protect water loss from the eyes. This, in turn, relieves symptoms of dry eyes and forms a protective barrier on the surface of the eye.

Who is it for?

You can buy Xailin Night for the self-treatment of dry eyes over-the-counter. It is a non-drug formulation that can be used safely and effectively by many people. It comes as an ointment that can provide long-lasting relief from dry eyes.

How do I use it?

Xailin Night is an eye ointment that comes in a tube. Wash your hands before applying the product to your eyes. Gently pull down the lower eyelid to produce a pocket between your lower lid and eye. Squeeze a small amount of Xailin Night into this pocket, ensuring the tip of the tube does not touch the eye. Let go of your lower eyelid and blink a few times to spread the ointment around the surface of the eye. Use as often as necessary into the affected eyes.

Should anyone avoid using it?

Do not use Xailin Night if you currently have an eye infection. You should avoid Xailin Night if you have any allergies or sensitivity to paraffin or lanolin. If you wear contacts, remove them first before applying Xailin Night, and wait at least 30 minutes before inserting your contacts again.

If you need to use other eye drops alongside Xailin Night, then you should use Xailin Night last unless advised otherwise, and wait at least 5 minutes between applying any other eye drops and ointments.

Are there any side effects?

Xailin Night is a greasy and occlusive ointment that can temporarily blur the vision after administration. If this affects you, be safe and make sure you do not drive.

In some instances, you may have a sensitivity to the ingredients in Xailin Night. If you experience redness, swelling, or pain in or around the eyes, stop using Xailin Night and seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist.
