Bonjela Junior Gel

Bonjela Junior Gel can be used by children and adults over the age of 5 months. Bonjela Junior helps to relieve pain, discomfort and inflammation caused by mouth ulcers. It can also be used to treat pain in the mouth caused by other conditions such as cold sores and sore spots from dentures and braces.

Bonjela Junior contains different active ingredients to the adult Bonjela formulation, and does not contain a group of chemicals called salicylates. This makes it safer for use in children. The first ingredient is the antiseptic cetylpyridinium chloride which is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. The second is the local anaesthetic lidocaine that works by numbing the local area where it is applied thus relieving pain and discomfort.

Don’t use Bonjela Junior for teething problems, you should use Bonjela teething gel instead. Bonjela Junior shouldn’t be used by children under 5 months of age. If you take any medications such as propranolol, cimetidine, or a group of medications known as water tablets (diuretics), you should discuss with your doctor or pharmacist before using Bonjela. These medications increase the risk of experiencing side effects of the ingredient lidocaine.

As with any medications, some people are bound to get some unwanted side effects. Some of the common ones include headaches, skin rash, low energy.
