What is Voltarol?

Voltarol is a diclofenac gel that is used as an anti-inflammatory pain reliever.

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Voltarol uses Emulgel technology to reach deep into the skin to deliver the core ingredient diclofenac to the target area. It provides a cooling effect to the applied area helping to soothe pain and inflammation.

Both creams are great at treating pain but they work differently so you should use the one that works best for you.

Movelat Cream Effectiveness

It differs from other topical creams because it combines the effects of two active ingredients - an effective anti-inflammatory in mucopolysaccharide polysulfate (MPS) and an absorption enhancer in salicylic acid. They work together to ease pain and inflammation. Movelat Cream is able to penetrate the skin’s surface and provide direct relief to the inflamed area.

The effectiveness of Movelat can vary depending on the severity of the pain and inflammation it’s trying to treat.

Voltarol Effectiveness

Voltarol is a diclofenac gel which is a popular choice for treating inflammation. Diclofenac is a NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) which is powered by Emulgel technology allowing it to get deep into the skin and easing pain and inflammation.

Voltarol gel comes in 3 different formulations that can be applied directly to the skin.

• Voltarol Back and Muscle Pain Relief Gel and Voltarol Osteoarthritis Joint Pain Relief Gel can be gently rubbed into the skin. The amount required will depend on the size of the affected area to be treated. Rub a small circular shaped amount over the site of pain and repeat this process 3-4 times a day
• Voltarol 12 Hour Joint Pain Relief Gel can be easily rubbed into the skin. A small amount of around 2-2.5cm in diameter should be enough to apply depending on the size of the area you are treating. This should be applied 2 times a day, ideally morning and evening to give you the most benefit of the 12 hour pain relief.

Anti-inflammatory properties:

MPS, one of the active ingredients in Movelat Cream, has anti-inflammatory properties.This allows it to reduce inflammation of rheumatic and muscular pain, stiffness, sprains, strains and mild arthritic conditions easing pain.

Pain relief:

Salicylic acid, the other active ingredient in Movelat Cream, is a type of pain-relieving medication. It’s able to relieve pain by impeding the production of prostaglandins which have a primary role in causing pain and inflammation.

Topical application:

Movelat Cream is applied topically, which means it is directly applied to the skin over the affected area. This allows for targeted delivery of the active ingredients to the site of pain or inflammation, providing localised relief.

Convenient and easy to use:

Movelat Cream is available in a cream formulation making it very easy to apply and rub into the skin. It is usually applied 2 to 4 times a day, depending on the severity of the pain or as advised by your doctor.

Minimal Side Effects:

When followed correctly there are usually little to no side effects from using Movelat Cream. If there is any reaction it’s typically mild skin irritation, redness, itching, a rash at the area it was applied to. Serious systemic side effects are extremely rare. It can irritate asthma so speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Voltarol is applied topically over the affected area of the skin and rubbed in so it can be absorbed directly into the problem area to treat pain or inflammation. Convenient and easy to use: Voltarol is available in various formulations, including gels, medicated plasters and heat patches. The gels are typically applied 2 to 4 times a day, depending on the formulation and as directed by a healthcare professional.

Minimal Side Effects:

Voltarol when applied correctly usually has no side effects in most people. If any occur they are typically mild skin irritations to the applied site.

Works well alongside other medications

Voltarol is safe to use with other treatments like pain killers, and paracetamol. It shouldn’t be used with ibuprofen however as this can increase the risk of side effects. If you are currently taking any prescribed medication, speak to your doctor first.

Unlike Voltarol, Movelat Cream doesn’t give a suggested time for how long it eases pain for following each application. It can be applied up to 4 times a day every 4-6 hours so can be used regularly however it should not be used for more than 7 consecutive days.

Voltarol 12 Hour Joint Pain Relief Gel will provide pain relief for around 12 hours and if applied twice daily (morning and evening), it can give all day pain relief.

Voltarol is only to be used by people over 14 years of age and should not be used for longer than 7 consecutive days.

Things to remember when using Movelat or Voltarol

• Don’t apply either of these to broken skin.
• If you have eczema or are prone to skin irritation on your hands, you should wear a latex glove when applying these treatments.
• Allergic reactions are rare but when applying for the first time, you should only use a small amount to a healthy area of skin to see how your skin reacts. Rub it in so it is absorbed and wait a while to make sure it doesn’t cause any redness, irritation or itching. - Contact your doctor if you have an allergic reaction to it.
• Always make sure to wash your hands after applying these products.
• Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes while you have Movelat or Voltarol on your hands.
• Always follow the directions on the packaging.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should seek advice from a pharmacist or doctor first before using these treatments.

Voltarol 12 Hour Joint pain gel Ingredients:

• The active substance is diclofenac diethyl ammonium. Each gram of gel contains 23.2mg of diclofenac diethyl ammonium. The 1.16% gel contains half the amount of diclofenac per gram.
• The other non-active ingredients (excipients) are butylhydroxytoluene, carbomer, cocoyl caprylocaprate, diethylamine, isopropyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, macrogol cetostearyl ether, oleyl alcohol, propylene glycol, perfume and purified water
